Learn about Jewelry Appraisals

At J. West Jewelers, we offer professional appraisal services tailored to your needs—whether it's for insurance purposes, estate planning, resale, or documenting a new purchase.

Appraisals are done by appointment only and are typically ready for pick-up the following business day. While the evaluation is conducted on-site, it is not done while you wait.

All appraisal work is performed by Amy C. Elstner, a Graduate Gemologist (G.G.), a GIA alumni, and a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA).

Your appraisal will include:

-A professional document suitable for insurance or legal records
-Detailed descriptions of each piece
-Stone identification, quality assessments, and measurements
-Mappings of larger diamonds and any uniquely identifying features

Examples of items that benefit from an appraisal include:

-High-end watches (Rolex, Patek Philippe, Omega, etc.)
-Diamonds (loose or set in jewelry)
-Vintage or designer jewelry
-Gold and platinum pieces
-Estate items or inherited jewelry
